In December we announced that Pitton Nature Trust had been successful in obtaining a significant grant of £1,985 from the Coronation Living Heritage Orchard fund.
This fund commemorates the coronation of King Charles III and is administered locally by Wiltshire Council. At the time of our initial application for funding in August 2024 we were invited to identify a “wish list” to cover items where we could utilise additional funding.
In December we were invited to review the “wish list” and confirm our funding requirements. We identified a number of items including the need to erect fencing to separate the community orchard and nature reserve from the new 5 metre wide permissive bridleway which will run from Pitton to Firsdown.
We also sought funding for additional fruit trees and equipment.
We are delighted to announce we have been awarded a further £2,858 in funding from the Coronation Living Heritage Orchard fund. It brings the total we have received from this fund to £4,843.
This will mean as soon as we have access to the land we can commence the work to create the new community orchard and nature reserve which will be a great addition to biodiversity locally and a wonderful place for the community to enjoy nature.
